What medications do you prescribe for acne?
It all depends on your specific skin condition but the most commonly prescribed medications by our doctors are Tretinoin: Stieva-A, Vitamin A Acid gel, Panoxyl 10%, Benzoyl Peroxide 5%, Clindamycin 1% (Clindoxyl or Benzaclin), Minocycline, Doxycycline, Isotreitinoin (Accutane, Epuris, Clarus), Spironolactone.
Is it necessary to use your face products to see results?
No. But, your skin care regimin should include a high quality cleanser, moisurizer and sunscreen. Our premium sustainable products are vegan, gentle on your skin and formulated to be well tolerated by people also using medication.
Can the birth control pill be the cause of my acne?
Hormones can be a major cause of acne and if our physician feels that your birth control is a contributing factor then you may be recommended to switch. We have found the best success with MYA (drospirenone), Synphasic (norethrindrone), Tri-Cira 21 or 28 (norgestimate) or Tri-Jordyna 21 or 28 (norgestimate).
What medications do you prescribe for anti-aging?
Wrinkles can begin to start in your mid 20’s and become increasingly more noticable with age as skin loses it’s elasticity and accumulates more damage from the sun. Scientific studies have shown tretinoin to be effective in accellerating your skin’s cellular turnover process, leaving you with tighter, fuller, clearer skin. Tretinoin is only avaible through a prescription and shouldn’t be confused with similarly named ingredients available in over-the-counter products.
Is my acne medication covered by OHIP?
If you’re under the age of 25 your medication is covered by OHIP!
